A must if you are a performer, impro actor, role-player, Cross-Reality actor, NPC’er, agent, spy or assassin gamer.
Augusto Boal (April 16, 1931 – May 2, 2009) was a Brazilian theatre director, writer and politician. He was the founder of Theatre of the Oppressed, a theatrical form originally used in radical popular education movements.
“Let us, we and they, create it first in the theatre, in fiction, to be better prepared to create it outside afterwards, to extrapolate into our real life.”
- Augusto Boal
In the Theatre of the Oppressed, the audience becomes active, such that as “spect-actors” they explore, show, analyze and transform the reality in which they are living.
The workshop is based on and are following selected elements from chapter three in the book:
Boal, Augusto (1992). Games for actors and non-actors. (2. ed) USA, Abingdon: Routledge
